Cowan’s practice focuses on representing individuals, businesses, and classes in complex commercial and civil disputes, including antitrust, breach of contract, class actions, unfair trade practices, and appellate matters. His breadth of experience and practical insight have strengthened the firm’s capability to handle high-stakes commercial disputes.
Among his accomplishments is his work on behalf of a class of former Stone Academy students, where he helped secure additional relief by appearing before the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee in support of Bill 7098 and Bill 7097 beyond the relief he secured in the settlement. These bills aim to assist students affected by the abrupt closure of Stone Academy by providing financial reimbursement and additional pathways to complete their nursing education. He is also a co-author of the Treatise on Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA), Antitrust and Business Torts.
Cowan has been recognized by Super Lawyers® Rising Stars and Best Lawyers® Ones to Watch. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Hamilton College. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut, before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
